Wireless not working on a Sony PCG-7113L

by wtjour / August 27, 2009 11:21 PM PDT

This laptop is less than a year old. The wireless quit working even though it said the device was functioning properly. I tried an external wireless which worked fine for awhile but not now. I suspect it is really a software issue but don't know where to go from here. Any and all ideas are appreciated.

At less than one year that's a warranty issue.

Never pass up a chance to lodge complaints inside the warranty time period or risk losing your free repair.

Thanks Bob, I checked and it is out of warranty as of the 18th. My bad for not trying that angle first.

Be nice on the phone and as an excuse say you were out of town and had to wait till you got back in the country, couldn't find the number etc.

1. Be prepared to reload the OS.
2. If all else fails, look at what slot is open. I no longer repair onboard wifi. We disable that and slip in some wifi pc-card.

There are some that slam that fix but then they don't have to spend weeks waiting for spares.

How I fix my wireless connection on Vaio PCG-7113L.
by userm8 / September 9, 2009 5:28 AM PDT

On my Vaio wireless was working perfect for about a year untill I ran some Vaio update. After that started wireless connection going down pretty often.
Not sure if we have the same problem and if this is a perfect way of doing it. I'll just tell what I'm doing to restore connection. It's a kind of a headache, but eventually can do it pretty fast.
1. On the toolbar double click the Vaio Smart Network icon (if you have one).
2. On the Smart Network window click WLAN check box if it's not green.
3. Click Settings.
4.On WLAN tab select the profile of your connection (again if you have one, if not create a profile on Advance Settings)
5. Click Switch Profile (wait while it's switching)
Don't close this window yet. Check if the connection icon on the
toolbar changed to the one with the globe. If it did try to
open a browser to see if it's working.
If still no connection:
6. Click Diagnose button.
Usually diagnose ends up with a couple of option, one of them to
import IP addresses. Click to Import. After that it gives the
message that problem resolved.
Usually after that I get connected. Good luck.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
