Question

Wireless not connecting over school wifi

Mar 19, 2015 7:05AM PDT

I've been having some trouble getting the internet to work at school. My computer connects and runs fine on my home and other networks but when I try it there it either says "cannon connect to this network" or it connects and has full bars with the yellow triangle and says "limited access". The school has two different places you can connect, one called open and another called guest where you need to log in. Neither work for me. My phone and all of my friends can connect fine to either of the networks but mine has decided not to. The problem hasn't always been here but it's been a while since it has worked so I'm going to say it might have been after I updated to Windows 8.1. I've tried all the solutions I could find online and none worked. If someone could help me find a solution I might actually be able to get stuff done.

Usually a matter for your school IT to solve.

Let them earn their keep. That is, it could be locked down and only they know how to connect.

- When you get the Yellow Triangle with "Limited access", click to it and run the troubleshoot. Most probably it will give the reason for not connecting
- Make sure your laptop's WLAN adapter driver is up to date
- Try to refresh the WLAN driver
