Wireless Networks problem

Apr 6, 2005 1:19AM PDT

For some reason, nothing shows up in the "View Available Wireless Networks" window, while I know that I am connected to a wireless network (though not the one I wan't to be on).

All it says in the window is:
Windows cannot configure this wireless connection
If you have enabled another program to manage this wireless connection, use that software.
If you want Windows to configure this wireless connection, start the Wireless Zero Configuration (WZC) service. For information about starting the WZC service see article 871122 in the Microsoft Knowledge Base on the microsoft.com websie.

What I don't understand is that it never said this before, and Ive never seen this on anyone else's computer who uses a wireless network. To my knowledge, I don't no anyone who subscribes to this WZC service either. Also, I can add new wireless connections in the Wireless Network Properties window (there is a missing tab). Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

WZC is a service built....

into XP and is managed through the Computer Management Console under Services. The default setting is started automatically at startup, you may want to check that. If you are using a wireless configuration program other then WZC, that would need to be looked at.

Just go to run then type the following command services.msc. That should open another page with all the services then scroll down and check to see if wireless zero configuration is enable if not, just click on enable and that should do it. I was having the same problem and that fix it
