and opt for Mozilla or a repair of IE (http://windowsxp.mvps.org/IEFIX.htm)
Hi all, hope you can help.
I'm trying to fix my friends internet connection on her laptop. The laptop (XP MCE) has a Intel pro wireless built in wi-fi and the desktop is connected via ethernet to a belkin mimo wireless router. The desktop (XP Pro) has no problems and will browse internet, e-mail etc
The laptop gets an excellent signal strength over wireless -
However, when I open internet explorer it just says "waiting for www......" and nothing loads. I can't access the router from the laptop. I can ping web addresses and the router from the laptop succesfully. I have tried repairing connections, and disabling wireless security and disabling firewalls on Desktop (McAfee) and laptop (Norton) but to no avail. And although both pc's are in the same workgroup I cannot access the shared files on the desktop from the laptop
This problem just suddenly appeared. Could it be some process that's running on the laptop which is preventing it from connecting? I have used the intel and windows wireless clients but get the same problem!
I am at my wits end, it seems like such a simple issue but it's got me stumped.
