Wireless N/W Adapter got Disabled :(

Sep 8, 2010 4:41PM PDT

Hi Guys,

Last night I shutdown my PC running Windows 7 Professional with no problems. This morning when I started my Windows 7 is unable to load drivers for my Wireless Adapter.

I can see my adapter in Network Connections window but it is 'Disabled'. When I tried to enable it, a small window pops up saying 'Enabling...' and it changes to 'Enabled' but my Wireless Adapter remain 'Disabled'.

I tried to reinstall my drivers many times, Windows 7 picks the driver and install it with no error...and I can see my device in 'Device Manager' which says 'This device is working fine'.

When I try to refresh my Device Manager saying 'Look for H/W changes' then my adapter status changes with a small '!' mark and when I check status again it says 'Device can not be started Error code (10)'.

Also, some time Windows 7 detect the same device as 'Unknown Device'.

I searched and found there was a problem with Zone Alarm installation but I didn't install Zone Alarm, although recently (last week) I installed VMWare Server (Latest) but as I said it was working till last night and even I un-installed it VMWare....problem persist....

I really do not want to reload entire OS....please help...

If you need any other information on this...please let me know...I am using 'Buffallo Wireless Adapter'.

Thanks,

Internal Or External Wireless Adapter?
Sep 9, 2010 2:34AM PDT

The "Error Code 10" message usually refers to one of two possibilities.. It's either a bad driver or a the hardware is failing..

In such cases, I visit the website for the adapter and download, then install the LATEST driver available for Windows 7.. Because Win7 is fairly new, updated drivers are released frequently. If you haven't give it a try. Be sure to identify whether it's a 32bit or 64 bit version of Win7.

And if that doesn't work, then it's probably time to buy a different wireless adapter. We've been using the Cisco/Linksys AE1000 USB adapters lately and they've been installing and working great on XP And Windows 7 Pro computers..

Hope this helps.
