Wireless 'N' Routers

by steve Feldheim / October 17, 2006 4:54 AM PDT

I have been using a Linksys Wireless-G router for several years, and am ready for more speed. I purchased a Belkin Pre-N wireless router a few months ago, and the speed is great but the connections drops frequently (for brief periods) which forced me to go back to the Linksys G. I noticed in the reviews of the draft 'N' routers that this problem is not discussed. Has it been resolved, or should I wait for the final 'N" routers to come out?

Any help would be appreciated.

I would wait.....

I would suggest that you wait alittle while. Since that the N wireless is still in the 'draft' phase, the problem may resolve itself when the final 'N' is released.

Since you have the Draft-N already, let me ask this at least. You are running a Draft-N wireless router, but are you still using a 'G' network card? If you can, get a Draft-N network card from Belkin. It's usually good when you get from the same manufacturer for the Draft-N networks to get a better comminucations between the two...compatability and all.

Also, try flashing the firmware to the latest version for your Belkin wireless...may help as well, as they may have 'fixes' to your issue already.

Hope that this helps and good luck

I'm actually using a USB adapter on my desktop and my son has an airport card in his Dell laptop. Geeting Belkin cards for both of us is too much of an expense for now. Until the 'N' routers are perfected, I'll go back to my Lynksys G.

Meet the drop-resistant Moto Z2 Force

The Moto Z2 Force is really thin, with a fast processor and great battery life. It can survive drops without shattering.
