Wireless music problem

I recently bought a Creative Wireless Music receiver to stream MP3s to my Marantz stereo. All works well except I'm getting a nasty popping sound from the bass notes (bass drum, etc) like its being overdriven or something. I've tried downloaded as well as personally burned songs all with the same result. The receiver has the latest firmware (1.20.4). Does anyone have a solution?

Just as a follow up:
Instead of using the remote to control the volume, I lowered it with the remote until it stopped popping then turned the stereo receiver volume up. Popping is gone and all is well.
