Question

Wireless Mouse & KB for LN5700 Smart TV

Nov 27, 2013 5:06AM PST

What is a good, inexpensive wireless mouse and keyboard which would be compatible with the LG LN5700 series of smart tv's? The standard remote is very painful when using the "smart" portion such as internet browsing, netflix searching, etc.

Does the manual mention "USB HID"?
Nov 27, 2013 5:57AM PST

if so, it should work. But once in a while you encounter a consumer that this answer is not good enough. My brother makes a few pennies from such folk. He'll bring in a k400 (at full retail plus service charge) for a trial. They are not allowed to back out of the sale except to tell him no thanks and the service charge stands. For the usual 30 or less bucks I think it's a safe bet.

K400: Can only find quick start guide.
Nov 27, 2013 10:44AM PST

All I can find for a manual is a quick start quide which does not mention USB HID. The little I read indicates that the vast majority of keyboards and mice meet this USB HID standard.

The cost of the K400 from amazon is only 29.99 including free shipping so I don't think I will be taking that route of buying your brother one so he can check it out.

If you have any USB PC keyboard

That's a good test too. My brother gets this call a few times a month. I guess folk can get pretty demanding.

K400 Works
Jan 9, 2014 11:44PM PST

It comes with a little dongle you plug into one of the USB ports. Yes it does work and very nicely. The "mouse" is really a pad; you move your finger across the pad and the cursor follows on the TV. There are two buttons below the pad which are similar to a right and left button.

The device is smaller than a normal keypad but it is more than acceptable for $25-30. I have no trouble recommending this item to anyone with a smart TV who has no keypad or mouse associated with it.
