Wireless laptop card interfering with sound

Oct 2, 2005 12:44AM PDT

I have aquired an old Fujitsu Lifebook L460 laptop and have recently bought a wireless card for it. Problem is, eveytime I connect to my netwtork my laptop speakers constantly pop and crackle as do any speakers that I connect to it. I can only get it to stop by disabling the wireless card (but this then means I can't connect to the network). I'm assuming the reason is due to some sort of radio frequency conflict but can't think of any way to resolve the problem. I'm not too experienced at opening up laptops so I'd like to avoid that if at all possible. Any ideas would be very much appreciated!
I'm using Windows 2000 pro, on a Pentium II 333. My sound card appears to be an ESS audiodrive, the wireless card is a BT voyager 1060 laptop adapter

Try an USB connected adapter or another make/model.

Sadly this issue is most likely due to a selfinstalled OS and some missing motherboard or other driver. But details are far too sparse to begin a discussion.

Try some other make/model or connection.

ESS Sound cards

There were a lot of issues with certain types of ESS cards and windows 2000/me - could be a driver problem.
Try update the sound card drivers -
