Are there any cons or limitations? How far away from the PC can you be? I have a 21" monitor, would I be able to sit four or five feet away in the recliner with the keyboard in my lap?

I have a birthday coming up pretty soon and when my kids ask me what I want this wireless set will be it! Is that the brand you would recommand?

I have such a combo ...

Came as part of the package for the computer. Mine is made my Logitek but I have no idea how they compare.

There is a radio "thingy" which is plugged in to the back of the hard drive and sits on your computer table and you are supposed to give it an amount of free space (ROFL whilst moving stacks of papers).

Mine works from up to 6 to 8 ft away - it's difficult to be precise cos I can't see the screen characters after that (doh!), but certainly OK at a couple of feet away. Guess you would have to check manufacturer specs to be precise.

Just for interest, I don't use a lot of the clever buttons on my Logitek because they seem to cause some sort of compatibility problems with my system, which are not cured by downloading latest drivers, and usually finish up going back with System Restore to the earlier driver.

OTOH the wireless bit was a major one of the deciding factors when I bought the whole rig, and I have not regretted that decision one little bit.

Hope you find this useful.

Mo

Are you able to set up the My Favorites on your keyboard? I think that would be neat. That set on the site mojo gave a URL for looks and sounds awesome.

I have the Logitech here If you look on the upper right those are browser buttons and one is for favorites. I don't use these for whatever reason so can't help as to how useful they are.

But mine came with this mouse instead. An upgrade from that prior combo because that mouse "caddy" is both the transmitter and the charger for the mouse. I used to go through batteries like crazy with my old wireless mouse. The kb is pretty good on batteries. The rechargeable mouse is terrific.

I have no problems sitting on a couch with the kb on my lap typing away.

For ~$100 I'm happy!

Hi Rosalie,

I bought my wireless keyboard set up and didn?t do any comparison shopping (it?s not like me to not shop around though.) However, the good thing about Costco store/Costco.com is that they stand behind their products for as long as you own them. Anytime I have returned an item to the store they refunded my money with no questions. After the refund they do ask if there was a problem with the item.

About the set up? There are three items: Keyboard, mouse and a receiver (mouse size.) The receiver plugs into the rear panel of my computer and I have it mounted under my desktop. It works well from that location, too.

The spec?s read that the unit?s will work up to six feet away from the receiver. I just did a test run with the keyboard at fifteen feet away and it works great. Of course fonts would have to be set to thirty six for me to read them at that distance. Happy The mouse worked well up to a distance of around eight feet. Both the keyboard and mouse are user friendly IMO.

In the beginning one of my concerns was that if I would have any lag time while playing live chat music trivia. It passed the test with zero lag, too. Those folks answer so fast in that trivia room, one second counts big time.

There may be bigger and better units out there, but I think I will hang with this one. Here is the website with additional product data incase you want to read more.

Site Wireless Desktop Elite.

Thanks for the information and link, mojo. That set is for me. This would have been wonderful a while back when I was working on a back-up PC and in IM on my main PC getting instructions. The back-up was behind me, no other way to situate it, the keyboard was on my lap and the cord was a real pain.

Hurry up, birthday, hurry up .... Happy
