Enable either WEP or MAC FILTERING.
Bingo, your moocher will be gone.

Hi,
I'm having trouble with "mooching off" wireless access. Basically, I seem to get it sporodically. Sometimes it just doesn't work. Everything seems to be in working order: I get an IP address, subnet mask, etc, etc. (repairing connection works) All numbers appear all the time and the signal strength is always high. However, in terms of "Received packets", a lot of times it works fine, but sometimes it won't work at all - and remain at zero.
I know sometimes it might be their modem, but I'm positive that is not always the case - because it happens with two different networks, and one of the networks might not work for a few days and then work; or a few hours and then work.
I have a Toshiba M35 series, 802.11b. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with my wireless card? are there any types of solutions I can attempt? I obviously can't access the modem, so all I can work with is my own computer.
(I have my own internet access, but I spend a lot of time at my gf's, and that's where I mooch off others for wireless access, just to check email and little things. I don't use wireless at my own place).
Thanks for any help.
