Wireless ISP anywhere, anytime service?

Feb 22, 2004 5:55AM PST

Hello, I was wondering what services there are out there that I could ask about. I am in need of an ISP that I can connect to anytime, anywhere with my laptop.

most likely it would be a satillite service of some kind but can anyone give me any good ISPs website or numbers that that dont charge a bundle, i live in the southern california area as a side note. A high speed connection would be preferred as well. Is there such a thing? any and all help would be greatly appriciated!!

1. Sattelite phone service is from 5 to 25 dollars per minute so it's doubtful you will do this.

2. Next up are Cell Phone data links. Nowhere as pricey, but you get to visit the local (bigger) cell phone stores and duke it out with them.

The issue is called "the last mile". It's the most pricey stretch of the delivery system.

Try walkinghotspot.com, must have a smartphone and they have a list of supported phones, click on devices. Can connect up to 5 devices and access the internet where ever you have 3g service. Cost of $24.99 one time purchase for the software. Recommend unlimited data plane for your phone. I have an HTC Tilt 2 with AT&T, works great...
