Wireless internet isn't working

I'm at work so i can get more information when I get home.

I have a wireless router that is hooked up to a desktop computer (working fine) and a laptop. I have road runner. Everything was working fine until one day I got off the internet and couldn't get back on. I have a gateway laptop and windows xp. Like I said i can still use the internet on my desk top and even when i put my laptop near it; it won't find the wireless signal.

what can i do. road runner has already re-setup everything and said it might be my network card. How do i check to see if that's the problem???

Time to do the swapping trick.

- Find another laptop to see it that works with you.
- Put your laptop near another (working) wireless router and see if it picks up that signal.
Together, this gives a very good indication if the cause is in the router or in the laptop.

And how did you determine it "won't find" the wireless signal?

It Might Also Be Their Wireless Signal...Testing...

Borrow a friend's wireless laptop and see if it connects to your network.. (If it doesn't, or even if it does, try installing the most recent firmware for your router/modem.)

Visit that same friend's house and see if your computer will connect wirelessly to their connection.. (If it doesn't, try installing updated drivers.)

Depending on the results, you'll now what to fix.

Hope this helps.
