It's rather simple. You have your high speed DSL/CABLE to some router, then connect WAPs (you'll know the acronyms by now) at each floor. A broom closet is not unusual.
Outside of wiring, the cost should be very cheap.
I'd alternate between channel 1 and the highest channel as I ascended each floor.
These are commodity items so unless you are in need of something special, a trip to best buy, newegg.com or compgeels.com would fetch the hardware.

I'm in the process of setting up a wireless network for an apt building of 28 families (out of which only about 12 families will be setup). It's a six story building with 5 families per floor and 3 families in the first floor. I need assistance in getting this project off the ground and I would like to know what type of routers, access points, data feed I would require in order to provide high speed wireless internet for most of the famiies in my building. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
