Wireless Internet Access: PDA, Used Laptop, or Cellphone?

Nov 5, 2004 2:00AM PST

Hi:
All I want is a way to surf the internet when I'm out and about without schlepping my big money company laptop with me. Was considering the IPAQs, but then I started thinking if all I need is a basic internet appliance, why not just get a reconditioned/cheapo laptop with WiFi...then I stopped in at Tmobile and saw the new sidekicks and that that might not be a bad option but I don't know much about them.

Like I said, the only thing this will be used for is to access the internet via WiFi. What makes the most sense?

The laptop works for most things most of the time. PDAs are a shadow of what you can get via a browser on a full size machine. And every phone I've seen has a vampire tap into your wallet.
