Wireless Infrared Remote Extender

These things are all over the Internet and I think getting one might solve an issue I have with Time Warner Cable in the Buffalo NY area.

They moved their channel lineup around and now are telling me I need a DVR on every TV to receive certain channels, such as one of my favorites, TruTV, which now is on channel 70. Each additional DVR is $7.00 per month.

Anyway, the one DVR we have now from Time Warner has an infrared remote. I was thinking of getting something called a "wireless infrared remote extender" that increases the "reach" of my infrared remote to about 100 or 115 feet. I think this is enough to control the DVR in the living room from the kitchen, bedroom and enclosed porch. I will, of course, measure the distances before buying.

Is anyone using one of these things? If so, what do you think and is there a brand you'd recommend?

Best regards,
