Maybe you need to just move the router to the normal setup you see in almost all router manuals?
As I'd be duplicating the router manual I'll wait for why you can't use the router manual.
I would like to change the configuration of my network. The way it is set up now involves a desktop computer as my host. I would like to know if there is a way to eliminate the desktop (because I hardly ever use it) and still get access to my devices another way. (What equipment would I need to accomplish this?)
My setup right now is as follows: My desktops operating system is Windows XP (I know a relic). I connect to the internet with Verizon DSL (no Fios in my area). The computer connects to a router with an ethernet cable. I also have the DSL line connect to the router and the telephone jack. Again I want to get rid of the desktop.
Right now the devices I use for the internet are a Laptop(Windows 10 operating system), Directv service, an on-demand router and a Blu-Ray DVD player.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you,
