Wireless Connectivity Help Please

Mar 7, 2005 7:22AM PST

Hi- I have a Dell wireless router working with various Dell and HP laptops at home using Comcast cable internet services. During the last two weeks often at times I lose my wireless connection although the bar in my "wireless networks" for my wireless set up shows full signal; I would be unable to connect wirelessly although a direct connection with ethernet cable would work. And then all of a sudden at other times the wireless network just works again by itself without my doing anything. This problem seems to occur between 1400hrs-2300hrs most. This also is the same problem with all my wireless capable laptops trying to connect.
I would appreciate any and all feedback to this frustrating problem.

Thanks

Further Problems
Mar 7, 2005 7:34AM PST

In addition to the previously described problems with my wireless, I like to also add that despite my network appearing under wireless networks and giving me the option to click connect, when I do that it still does not connect (again with a full signal bar appearing)

First update your firmware,

Then look for any device in your house, that might interfer with your wifi, such as; Cordless phone (always put in the cradle), microwave, then maybe your neighbor wifi (ask around and/or change your wifi channel), etc.

Thanks for the feedback- is changing the channel, the same as updating the firmware, could you be more specific if possible since I am rather new at this.

Kind Regards

Problems Still
Mar 15, 2005 8:24AM PST

Hi,

Thank you for your assistance. I have updated all my wireless card drivers and in addition the firmware for my wireless Dell Truemobile 2300 router.

However, we are still having problems where the wireless service is sometimes working and sometimes not at all. Under my "wireless networks" the signal bar is full or 3/4ths full but the laptops are not picking up anything for us to connect to the internet, and these are from the same locations where we generally get reception for the internet-when we do, happening at various times of the day.

We are using Comcast cable internet services and suspect the problem may be with the Dell Truemobile 2300 router, since at a previous resident when we had SBC dsl services no problems like these existed- there was either a signal and internet service or there was no signal with no internet service. Here the wireless networks shows full signal bars but no wireless connectivity is possible.

Could you please trouble shoot further
