Wireless connection send but no receive

Jan 28, 2006 10:44AM PST

I am pretty new to networking, so I hope I don't leave out too much important info.

I recently purchased a HP DV5029 laptop with integrated wireless, running win xp media edition. I have two desktops which were a wired lan, one with xp home and one win 98. I wanted to add wireless to this and purchased the Belkin wireless G router f5d7230-4. I ran into a stumbling block because I do not have broadband. During set up with the cd it of course wants me to hook up to the broadband connection, and of course will not go further without it.

With everything hooked up and wireless enabled, I can connect to the wireless network, and it will send packets but will not receive. I have disconnected all the firewalls and disabled norton internet pain in the butt. If I have the hp notebook wired to the router, I can us the network printer, share my slow internet and access files, etc. I just can't go wireless. I have called Belkin and was on hold an hour and never got a hold of anyone. I have emailed tech support and got nothing back in over a week.

I guess my question is whether this wireless router is ever going to work for me, or do I need to try something else out?
Thank you for all your help!
