It could be some issue with the desktop OS, antivirus or other. It is strange to use a router for the client WiFi device.
Hi guys,
I moved into a new flat recently. The internet here requires you to join the companies open wireless network, then you have to sign in via a web browser to activate the internet. I have no problems using my laptop to do this, or my smartphone.
My desktop however i need some help with. It conncts to the wifi network no problems, however i keep getting the 'no internet access' message on the pc (which dissappears on the laptop after browser login). I have used IE, firefox and chrome browsers but always get the same message that there is no internet connection and i am not even able to load up the login page to let me activate my connection.
Both pc and laptop are running windows 10, with the same antivirus software (trend micro + malwarebytes). If i create a portable wireless hotspot with my smartphone, the PC will connect to this and access the internet no problems. I phoned the internet company and they say everything works fine their end as my laptop is able to easily connect to things. The PC also works fine with an ethernet cable but i dont have that option here.
Does anyone here have any idea why this is occuring? My PC clearly doesnt like this place's internet and i wondered if there were any settings or things i could be playing with to help? My network card in the pc is a TP link N900 wireless dual band router and is only recently purchased.
Thanks for your time! Matt
