Question

Wireless connection LM620 3D

Sep 7, 2013 3:21AM PDT

Hello,

I'm experiencing some difficulties to achieve connection between my TV and wireless router.

The TV catches a week signal since it's on the other end of the house so I bought a TP-LINK WR710N and configured it as a repeater.

The signal that reaches the room is very strong now. I can access the web from a laptop or phone with easy and very fast but...

When I search for wireless points it find 2 connections with the same SSID (the original from the router with a week signal and the one from the repeater).

The thing is that the TV refuses connection with the stronger signal just allowing to connect to the weaker, original signal from the router itself.

When I check the wireless connection it checks the TV and Gateway but it won't check the DNS and then doesn't establish an internet connection.

Can someone assist me on this issue please?
Thanks

Thanks for your reply Bob,

I have the latest TP-LINK FW but your reply gave me a support email and I'm sending one to TP regarding this issue.

But I don't have access to all the known issues. But repeaters tend to be buggy things. Add a Smart TV to find more bugs it seems.

In parting I can only guess you tried the usual Google DNS and firewall change noted in the CNET Networking forum.

No I didn't try it. I've been googling it to find some more information but I can't seem to find it. Can you point me to it please?
Thanks

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to take a look and see if I manage to find a solution since TP-LINK didn't reply to my support email yet.

First I never use repeaters. Too buggy for me. Maybe they work for laptops but when it comes to devices such as tvs and bd players you tend to stick to routers and powerline adapters. When I use a router as a WAP (see google) would never duplicate the SSID. Some want to try that but I won't.

Tanks again for your comment. You might not believe but I've been stuck at my home this afternoon trying to sort this out with no avail.

No matter what my TV can connect to my very week AP router signal but won't connect to my repeater. Even if it shows a much stronger signal in my TV wireless access points.

Strangely enough my iPhone can connect to my repeater but only for the first minutes. After 5 or so minutes my iPhone finds the wireless point but no longer can connect too it! Odd to say the least.

Bob. Can you share your opinion on what is the best way to have a decent wireless signal on my bedroom? Be it a repeater (which you already stated as a no go), or any other way?

Best

I use other methods.

I thought I shared them but there is a simple antenna reflector made with kitchen and office supplied that I've used as a party trick to show we can avoid more gear in some situations. However this is at many posts and I can't seem to find what the router is so I'll stop here with a video link about this.
