Wireless card - two questions

Feb 19, 2005 6:16AM PST

Hope someone can help. I have a d-link router and D-link wireless card for my laptop. Sometimes everything works fine. But from time to time when I open IE, I get www.whatever.com could not be found. For some reason, though the lights are blinking, I can't go to websites. I also can't download mail - tells me the server cannot be found. I need to shut down and restart, sometimes several times, before it will work.

Second question is about file sharing. I've set up the home network (2 computers). They both are wireless. Both have been set up using the wizard, with different names but the same network name. File folders have been marked shared. But, when I try to see the network and shared files, I get a message telling me I'm not allowed to see the network and to contact the administrator. What am I doing wrong?

Whew, long, thanks.

The first problem looks like....

your devices need a firmware update from D-Link. Look for the latest software and not the one on the CD.

The second problem sounds like a firewall blocking network access.

Networking Problem
Feb 23, 2005 1:35AM PST

I have the same 2nd problem.
I can see both computers on the Network on my labtop, but unable to find the share printer that connected to the wired PC.
I was denied access to the Network when I tried to open up the my network workgroup on wired PC. The IP addres assign was 192.168.1.2 is always timeout when ping, yet internet access is OK.
Both computers are connected (wired and wireless)to the NETGEAR 614 router that connected to the Verizon DSL modem.
Please help!

No, I only see the work group name. Access denied or not available message will show after a long (busy)search.
