Most brand name routers are pretty much the same. You could check CNET's reviews. Speed is controlled by the strength of the signal. Anything below "Very Good" will slow the machines down. Upgrading to the 108mbs would work. I have 5 machines wireless and they all work great and 54mbs.

I have cable internet (io/cablevision in brooklyn, ny) and am using a netgear wireless router (54Mbps WGR614v4) with my sony vaio notebook. A bandwidth meter gave me 2.3 megabits per second (who knows how accurate ti really is). If i were to upgrade to a better router, would i be able to significantly notice a difference in my internet? thanks.
