wireless broadband probs with vista

Mar 24, 2007 10:03AM PDT

I'm hoping that someone can help me.
I've been forced to use vista by micro$oft because I wanted a new laptop and you just can't buy them with XP loaded anymore.
I am having HUGE issues connecting to my wireless broadband at home. I know its not my Draytek modem as I have 3 desktop computers running with the wireless broadband without issue.
Apparently I need the micro$oft 'hotfix' to solve this issue, but the helpdesk phones at micro$oft Australia are only open during business hours which is when I'm at work....

Is anyone able to email this hotfix to me? Or supply me with another option?

wireless broadband problem

I had a similar problem with a new HP laptop I purchased this past Friday. The computer did not recognize my wireless router. I plugged the laptop directly to my router with a network cable, and was able to download some updates which solved the problem for me. I'm still having issues getting the Vista laptop connecting to my XP desktop to share files, and a printer. Not loving Vista too much yet.

yeah, I managed to download some updates which fixed the problem.
But now I'm finding that Vista is incompatible with all of my accessories.... printer, mobile phone, scanner etc.

Not enjoying Vista at all......

HP Laptops and network sharing
Apr 3, 2007 1:45AM PDT

I fought forever to get my new vista laptop to share drives and folders with my xp machines. I had installed the LLDP driver for XP on the XP machines, and the network map could then see them, but could not conenct to them (no ping response or anything). Ended up being Norton. The version of Norton that HP preinstalls on the machines also has a firewall. Seems redundant, since Vista has it's own firewall, and pointless as all my computers are behind my home firewall. Disabled both firewalls, and it works flawlessly. Really starting to like vistas networking, now that i got the third party out of the way. The network map is great, just wish I could manually add items to it (Have an HP printer on the network, and it would look nicer if it was included as well)
