Wireless adaptor doesn't see access point.

Mar 15, 2005 9:14AM PST

I am using a LinksysWRT54GS for my access point, Operating SYS is 2000 PROFessional.
Computer is a HP e-Vectra using a Lynksys WUSB54G wireless adapter. When I try to disable the SSID broadcast the adapter will not connect to the WRT54GS.

The adapter is working OK because I can see and connect to other neighborhood access points.

I also have a Toshiba laptop with Centrino Mobile technology which works just fine with the WRT54GS whether the ssid broadcast is disabled or enabled . Anyone have a solution?? OS on the laptop is XP with SP2

with ssid disabled, you need to add it manually..

and actually you don't need to disabled ssid broadcast.. use WPA and Mac filtering for security...

Not sure what you mean by adding manually. When I set the adapter I have the SSID and WEP encryption set the same as the router and using DHCP

What I found is..

Not all cards and WAP's work together with WEP enabled. If new firmware and drivers don't cure it, we forget WEP and go with MAC filtering until new hardware is obtained.
