Your confuse. Tell me about. I have a dell latitude d610 laptop. I access the internet through at&t router with the phone cord attached to the laptop. I wanted use the laptop around the house with the cord. I thought I might of had an internal modem I called techincal support to get help, but they told me, that i didn't have a wireless modem installed in the laptop. So, I went on ebay an bought this pc card and put it in the side slot. Still, no luck. Then i went to cnet website to download software for card. I don't what else to do?

This AT&T router. What type of service do you have? DSL? If so, is this router a wireless router? What is the exact and specific make and model of the router? If it's not a wireless router you've wasted your money on the wireless card.

What is the exact make and model of the PC card? "Wireless modem" doesn't tell much, besides, it's called a NIC (Network Interface Device), not modem.

But back to the first paragraph. If that device from AT&T is not a wireless modem/router, we stop here. Until you get a wireless router.

first, that item cnfm560-rf is a FAX modem and NOT a wireless card.

The DSL modem does show to be a wireless device, but I'm afraid I'm going to stop here. You need to contact AT&T. They will need to walk you through the wireless settings which include accessing the modem wired, setting up wireless security such as WPA2, setting the wireless key, and such. Too much for us to handle here. And you still need to buy a wireless PCMCIA card. What you bought, according to the numbers you gave me is a dial-up modem. http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=50970

What cord exactly? What connection on the PC? What device on the other side?

The thick yellow ethernet cord I believe. It goes from the back of the router to the back of laptop. It looks like a thick yellow phone cord.
