Resolved Question

Wireless

Jun 1, 2018 12:21PM PDT

Hello. Happy

If someone uses the same wireless network as I do, but I have public option on, can they see what I am doing on my laptop?

Is there any way for me to see what they are doing? if I turn public off?

Doesn't matter.

While they may not be able to tell exactly what you are doing, they might be able to see what websites your PC is connecting to. This setting has no effect on this area.

If you want to surf without that leak, use a VPN.

Does what you said also apply if

when I connected to wireless I was asked if I would allow other devices to see me and I clicked no.

Is there any way for me to see what the other person is doing? I need to make sure they did not see what I googled and see if they are trying to harm me. I would not do it out of bad reasons.

how would they go about seeing what I'm doing and how can I tell if they have?

Let's say you use my network.

And I log what the DNS that I handed out to you resolves. All too easy to know what web sites you are looking up.

As to you knowing I logged this, the users have no idea.

And we didn't get into packet sniffing and more.

If you want to use a WiFi system that is not yours, and you don't want to leak on that system, use your VPN. Even Opera's built-in VPN on the browser will do fine.

I just hope I didn't screw up too much up to now.

Opera VPN it is. thanks. Happy

Is there anyway to see what the other person has done so far? I think they just left early.. and took their device.

I have the router password.

I blew it..
