Question

Wired router won't connect to computer/internet.

Jun 27, 2012 6:26AM PDT

I bought a Trendnet TEW-652BRP wireless router off of some guy on Craigslist to use as a wireless repeater. I'm not too tech savvy but I know the basics.

I plugged one end of an ethernet cable into my existing router through one of the numbered slots on both routers in order to install the router. It did not detect the router or something and none of the lights on the repeater router came on plus it won't let me put in the repeater routers ip address into the web page bar thingy to configure it.

I then tried to to connect the repeater router to the computer and modem using the same setup the working router was hooked up. The internet is down like I have nothing plugged in.

I feel like I am just being stupid and this is an easy problem. I have followed the quick installation guide found online to no avail.

Note: The router is version 1.0R or something along those lines and Trendnet's site says it is discontinued. Not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Any help would be much appreciated.

is it powered up? Do you see lights on the router? If not, its broke, proceed to replacing it. If so, locate teh reset button, and hold it down for a GOOD 30 seconds, this will reset it to defaults in case its used and someone changed the setup. then try following the manual again.

Yes the power light is lit up and green. I also tried resetting it but it showed no sign of actually resetting. Should the light turn off and back on or anything or is it just a software reset?
