Wired connection to internet, I am losing connection

Feb 7, 2007 6:56PM PST

Hello, I would need some help regarding my wired internet connection, I have connected my laptop at work through a wire, when I connect the cable the connection is done automatically and it works for 5 mins, but after this time, I get disconnected and I have to open the network connection and do a repair to get it back on. It seems like when I lose the connection, I can only send bytes but my received bytes indicator remains flat...
does anyone have an idea or came up with the same problem before?
thanks a lot
Paul

no it's my laptop, I am a consultant for this company
I have spoken to the guy in charge of the network and he can't find the reason why, he is seeing my IP on his system and doesn't know why I can't receive while i am still sending bytes...he is suggesting some kind of soft in my laptop that is controlling this...

Usually check for P2P use and hijacking of the WINSOCK. Tools vary but may include WINSOCKXPFIX, Free AVG AntiSpwyare, RootKit Revealer and others. If I suspect hardware I boot up my Knoppix or PCLinuxOS CD and see if the system works there.

If the hardware fails on LiveCD Linux I pull out either an USB or PC-Card Ethernet and use that.
