Question

Wired connection broken?

May 10, 2020 12:25PM PDT

I recently connected my computer to my router using an Ethernet cord instead of using WiFi, when I did this all my desktop applications such as discord spotify steam and more all couldn't connect to the internet yet for some reason if I loaded up google and went to YouTube everything worked fine. to make it even more confusing every now and then out of no where I would be using my computer (for example I started a call on hangouts)and it would load up my apps right away like there was no problem at all, but the next day if I tried doing the same thing that worked the day before nothing would change. I really need help I've never seen anything like this.

Answer
Did you examine the connection for differences?

So does one get you a different DNS, gateway or "other" setting?

If you can, test with a different DNS. Google how like this: "How to use the Google DNS?"

Did you turn off the Wi-Fi? Sometimes routers get confused with two signals from one PC.
