Question

wiped disc. How do I download backup from external hard driv

Mar 25, 2014 6:46AM PDT

my samsung laptop crashed and had to be wiped & reloaded. I have a seagate external hard drive but my subscription ran out and I cannot download the backup from the cloud. I have extended my subscription but the backup has disappeared. I don't know how to replace the system from the seagate manually. Any help there?

Sounds proprietary.

If online support documentation fails, it may be time to call seagate and get help using their software.

In the future I advise to steer clear of backup software that fails like this. I use SyncBack and such which is not proprietary and I can copy my files back with explorer.

I have some on the external hard drive but am a novice and don't know how to get it off there and onto my laptop. I'll see if I can find some instructions. I didn't know if there was some gizmo way of getting it off and onto the laptop.

I agree with Robert, you seem just as victimized from the backup process and having lost access. Any "services" that you pay should provide some direction or advise on how to recover your data. Since, this is already expired but you've redone the subscription what are their rules? They may have provided a time period where it remains present then wiped if no payment is forth-coming after x-days in storage pass the non-subscription period. If they can't provide access and no support other than that, it's gone and their "terms/EULA" explains all that, you're SOL. sorry...
