WinXpPro: browsers freezes animated gif's

Last week WinXpPro told me "unable to start Windows" at boot-time.
Recovery setup was neccessary.
From that moment all seems to work just fine except for all kinds of images on websites. They sometimes do not appear or only for some part and ALL animated gifs just show one instance of the picture.
Any suggestions?
Kind regards
Ludo.

My advice is this. Use any other browser than Internet Explorer to move out of the line of fire between malware writers and Microsoft.

Your post didn't tell what browser and if your XP has all the critical updates. It also didn't tell if the machine is free from parasites. Read http://www.doxdesk.com/parasite/

Yes, After repair installation I installed all the updates needed. McAfee latest updates ensures (?) me my PC is free of bugs.
The browsers I used are: Opera 7.23 and 7.50, Mozilla 1.6, AvantBrowser 9.02 and IE 6.0.2800.xpsp2
Creating a animated gif in PaintShopPro's Animation shop works fine. Save this gif on c:\temp and opening it in one of the browsers i see a static image.

So the browser didn't freeze. The animated GIF isn't animated!

That's a horse of a different color and the issue is noted.

Animated GIF software vs. GIF software

Since all the browsers show no animation, the GIF is likely in need of "work."
