Windshield Mount for HD Camcorder

Nov 17, 2010 9:17AM PST

Hello,

Can someone recommend a good windshield mount for mounting a Flip MinoHD camcorder inside a car?

Thank you.

There may be

an issue with what is legally allowed to be "windshield mounted" and how much windshield real estate is covered (thereby blocking your vision of the road).

It would be a bummer for anyone to make a recommendation that you followed - only to have you pulled over for an "unsafe" condition.

I set up a tripod in the front seat... and there are "systems" that are essentially a bar mounted to the driver and passenger headrest riser-bars that would not block any windshield visual space.

Only in CA and MN

I heard it would be a 'pseudo' issue in the states of CA and MN only.

It may be more likely to be pulled over due to other reasons than for mounting a camera..

Doesn't same rule apply to GPS/iPhone holders?

Anyway, appreciate the reply.

I was looking for advice from someone who has used a windshield cam mount.

Sort of true.

Does not go by what the police say. They have to prove it is blocking
your vision (which by the way would take mighty big object to block a
persons view) if I can see than it is not blocking anything.

Fair enough...

though I'd rather skip risking being pulled over, being cited and having to prove in court that visibility is not impacted.

Since we know GeMen2012 is in California, the prudent response is to provide information on what the law is. After that, if GeMen2012 chooses a different course, it is their choice - but cannot claim a CNET.com post advised them to do anything different than what the law states (whether or not anyone else has been popped).

Love Yes sir, I am in California... Cool

An update - to date I have purchased two sets of the Flexcope Camera Mount. My friend also got one for her boyfriend as a B-day gift... I am satisfied with this product at $16.88+S/H. The suction cup is awesome; it can hold a weight up to 4.5 pounds. I know this because I try to hang a baseball bat on it... Yes, it is not pro-grade like the 3-cup device from Delkin but it is a good price.
