Windows7 won't shut down

Nov 12, 2010 4:57PM PST

I have an Asus T101MT netbook/tablet, and it won't turn off. It says that it's logging off and closing down, and then nothing more happens. I've even left it overnight, and even after 17hrs it hadn't turned off. I have to kill it with the on/off button.

It's been this way since I unpacked it. I bought it from a fly-by-night online firm which is now out of business, so no help there.

I guess this behavior can also interfere with its ability to install updates correctly. Am I right?

Back to Asus

It's unlikely it's out of warranty. Let Asus fix it.

That won't do...

...Asus tells me to contact the place where I purchased it. Since they closed shop right after I bought this thing, I can't do that Sad

Then two choices.

Either learn a lot about troubleshooting or reload the OS.

Sounds like a warranty issue. Are you telling us that there is no factory warranty? Or is this some used machine?

Nope, in my country Asus tells me to contact the retailer.

All warranty issues are to go through them. So I have to fix this myself.

Ahh. Here in the US and Canada.

It's sad to read that there is no warranty for you.

--> I fear that it may be defective or it was something you did out of the box the day you started it up. For example a buddy had troubles on day one. But we tracked it back to some software he installed minutes after he started the machine.
