Windows7,MS is asking to update to a newer vers? shd I ?

I have MS Windows 7, I am constantly being asked to update to a newer version? Currently I think they are on 9. It is free but should I. aren't there errors whenever a newer version comes out?

Internet Explorer 9?

If so, and if it is being offered via "Windows Updates" then yes, it is safe to allow the upgrade.

What I meant to say was I have Windows 7 version 6.1, Home Premium,
It is Internet Explorer that is constantly asking me to update, not Windows!!
I am currently on Version 7 also, should I update to 8 or 9?

Windows Update decide.

If WU offers IE8 then accept that and let it install, and at some later stage WU will offer IE9, so you can update again.

You should be fine whichever is offered first.

and in general Windows upgrades are not free.

Microsoft is testing Windows 8 with selective users, but they have to apply to MS to test.

Please give us the full message, exact wording please.

Which Windows 7 do you have, Home Premium, Ultimate, Enterprise, or anything else?

Was this Windows 7 pre-installed on this computer when you got it? If so, what make and model and is the vendor offering you an upgrade through them?
