Question

Windows7 crash

Jun 22, 2014 1:54AM PDT

Hi!
A friend of mine gave me a Windows 7 laptop and asked me to fix it... The thing is that she got a junk mail, and she usually just delete this tyes of mail, bus she copied the part ofthe email after @ and pasted it into google... she suddenly got a blue screen and when the laptop is turned on now the Levovo logo appears for a while, then a blie screen comes up with a Sad and it says windpw encountered a problem and have to be restarted. we are gathering information and will restart the computer. And something with a very small letters comes at the bottom of the screen and I can see 0% , but it instantly restarts, and the lenovo logo appears again and loops with the blue screen and Lenovo logo... Ive tried all the f1 to f12, del, ins buttons and hold down enter to try to enter bios or recovery menu, but nothing happens, can it be the mbr or does anyone have any idea what tbis can be?
Thank you
Hizing

Windows 7 Crash Question

One more question; does the computer have Windows Recovery drive. He could have found the same in the drives listed once he used to click My Computer.

The usual.

1. Save their data. Not to duplicate the web here but my favorite is to pull the HDD out and into some enclosure so they can copy out what they forgot to backup.

2. With step 1 done you execute the factory recovery methods. If the onboard recovery fails you get the set of recover DVDs out and follow the instructions. If they forgot to make them, order a set.

3. As to which function buttons, you would be diving to the Lenovo web pages and manual on the model.

Keep in mind this is a recurring big of work you see in this industry. That is, not much new to tell you.

Windows 7 Crash

Here are a few things you may try.

1) Remove the hard disk and try to reboot. If the PC reboots, the problem may be with RAM or battery. If it doesn't, the problem is with the operating system. Get the recovery DVDs ready. If you don't have them, ask Microsoft to send you the same.

2) If the PC reboots, try RAM chips one of one. If you just have one RAM chip, try option 3.

3) Try to remove the battery and reboot the PC again. If it reboots, replace the battery, else take it to the repair center.

In all likelihood, the problem is with the operating system only. So proceed with the solution given in option 1.

Goto the AV forum and find the sticky post:

http://forums.cnet.com/spyware-viruses-security-forum/

use the pgms. and hints to help recover if at all some malware at work here. FTI, the email just being clicked starts the malware process, next time don't save or click on it, just delete it, now she should know why.

I suggest you look into HitmanPro 32 or 64-bit version using the "KICKSTART" portion, using a flashdrive as thus boot from it and help sort this all out.

As you can imagine, the fix depends on the cause.
Just reinstall Windows, if other suggestions above don't help. If that doesn't fix it, it's a hardware issue that needs repair.

Hi again!
Sorry for all the typos in the post.
I do not have the win. dvd.
To be honest I dont know if the computer have a Windows recovery drive, I have never used the computer before, she just gave it to me and asked me to fix it... But I cannot click my computer because I cannot enter the os, the computer just loops with the Lenovo logo and then a blue screen where it says its gonna
gather info, but it does not, it just restarts to the Lenovo logo, then blue screen.
Yes my thought was also to take out the hd and backup whatever is needed and reinstall, but as is now I dont think I can get the dvd player to start because the blue screen comes before anything starts...
Regarding the video I cannot run chkdsk or antivirus because I cannot enter the os.
I will try what TEQGlobal suggests, I was just wondering about the "kernel trap mode" message, and because the bluescreen comes so fast and before anything starts I was thinking maybe MBR error, because I cannot enter BIOS or anything... thanks again, all help is appreciated.
