1. Have you copied all the files from the memory card to a folder on your computer, then tried to open them from the folder?
2.. When you plug the memory card into a "slot" on the computer, it's still a "reader" and as such, it needs all the correct drivers to function correctly.. Check "Device Manager" for the manufacturer of the card reader, then visit the computer manufacturer's website, or the memory card reader's website and download, then install the newest driver version for that reader.
And related to that it the motherboard/chipset driver for your computer.. It also "helps" the computer configure the card reader on your computer as well as other USB devices.. Check to make sure you have the most current motherboard/chipset driver from the manufacturer.
3. You never know whether the "card" is to blame UNTIL you try it on a different computer.. Take the card, plug it into a known "good" computer from a friend or family member.. and see if you can copy all of the pictures from the card to a folder on the desktop.. If everything copies correctly, then it's not the card at fault but instead it's your computer.. And you've gained something... you can now copy all those pictures to a CD or flash drive and transfer the to your computer.
Hope this helps.
System: Medion, Pentium 4 CPU 2.80 GHz 2.81 GHz and 512 MB of RAM. Windows XP Home Edition 2002, Service Pack 2.
Digital Camera: Panasonic Lumix DMC LZ7, 6x optical zoom, 7.2 megapixels.
My problem does not appear to be the card itself. I have over 1000 images on my memory card which I can view just fine on the camera; however when I plug the card into my computer--just into the slot (no reader or USB cable),only some of the images actually turn into pictures. The rest refuse to open in any program and remain as JPEG thumbnail files (orange) and I have had a variety of messages regarding an invalid format, cannot open file, ect when trying to open in another program.
1.I have tried changing the extention to open the files
2.I have tried changing the programs to open the files with
3.I have updated Windows XP service pack
4.Downloaded Windows Media Play ver 11
5.Run a registry cleaner
6.have looked for help on-line and am on wits end.
Nothing changed from the last picture I took that loads as a picture, to the next picture (and subsequent pictures)that do not open that I am aware of.
Can anyone help?
