I recently acquired a computer, with Windows xp operating system. I would like to change the user name to my own instead of the previous owner. Can any one help me?

Thank you

Short of registry hacks....

you can create another user for yourself (administrator account), then delete the previous owners account.

XP Pro or Home??

Basically, you just create a new user with priviledges to delete the other. Still, the name entered during installation will remain in the registry and will return when you install certain software. If the previous owner registered the installation with MS, that remnant remains. If possible (and you have the required disks) I'd just format and start fresh.
