windows xp system restore

when i'm given the option to select a date for system restore the dates will be in blue but it will not let me click on a date..

Some malware can do this

Given so little information to work on, (did you see that note in red when you posted? What about any error messages?), I can only suggest that you use your anti-virus and anti-spyware utilities to scan for viruses and other malware.
