First, it would sure be nice to now EXACTLY which Windows XP version you are using. Windows XP, or Windows XP Service Pack 1, or Windows XP SP2? (Determine that by RIGHT clicking on "My Computer", choose "Properties". The "General" tab will indicate which version you are running.
To Do A System Restore in Windows XP:
In Windows XP, click on Start-All Programs-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore. When the System Restore window loads, click on the "Restore me to an earlier time", then click on "Next". At the next screen, you should see a calender. If it doesn't currently show "December", click on the "back arrow" next to the "January, 2005" month listing. It should then show you the month of December and it's variou "restore points". Click on your choice of "bolded" restore point dates, then click on the "Next" button and follow the prompts to restore to an earlier time..
