That assumes that this Toshiba has a hidden recovery partition on the hard disk.
If that fails, then you have no recovery partition. In that case your options are limited to either getting that CD/DVD drive fixed or purchasing a USB CD/DVD drive.

Hello, I have a Toshiba Satellite M65 series with a broken DVD drive; I cannot use the system recovery discs, but want to reset the HD to factory settings. I've saved all the files I need.
