windows xp reboot problem

I'm having a problem with my windows xp computer as it reboots. As it comes up, as the blue lines scroll and windows is loading it freezes, it will not load. Then I try it again and it will load fine. It has gone as many as 5 times without coming up and the 6th time it is fine. Any ideas on what I should do to have it be more reliable???

When it does get to normal windows, go to start, run, type in chkdsk, press enter, let it do a file search and see what happens, keep us posted.
