Windows XP Pro sp2 ehternet issue

Hello I am currently having a issue with my windowXP Pro SP2.

last night I diabled my ethernet connection by right clicking the icon then selecting disable then I defragmented my HD the next morning i woke up to see that defragmentor was frozen at 78% well I guess it was having one of those lame windows issues so i whent to close it then when i did that my computer froze sooo I waited a few minutes to see if it would un freeze its self but it didnt so I Ctl Alt Delete to see if it would pop nothing happend so I restarted it when it started I went to start my ethernet connection but it wasnet in my connections folder nothing was in it so I went to check the divice manger to see if there was any problems in there nothing wrong in there so I checked Direct X see if it could find any issues but there was nothing there so now im in the gutter because i have no clue what wrong aslo i tried to do a system restor but system restor was not activated befor so its not going to help.... Sad

my mobo is a p4m800pro-M and it has a onboard ethernet.

Ouch. A crash during defrag is a bad thing.

I would look at attempting the following.

1. IEFIX.

Why? It automates the use of SFC and fixes many small things without us having to check each one.

2. The Repair Install of XP.

Widely documented on google.com, I'll stop here.

3. Reinstall the motherboard drivers, then the network card drivers.

Hope that gets it.

ok well i tried every thing you said but the ie fix because i dont have the origonal XP cd soo i cant use it

as for the rest they didnt work

heres what i have done so far

1: done some scans with some apps like ad-aware (didnt help)

2: tried to install the drivers from both the site and the mobo cd(didnt help)

3: checked that my settings in bios were right they were (didnt help)

4: checked too make sure that all the internet related services were running. they were. (didnt help)

also heres the error i get when trieing to install the drivers

"Could not find proper NIC"

and this pops up every time i start up

CLED Error

which has to do with the ethernet service

It's dead. No XP CD means no repair.
