Windows XP Pro CD Repair

Feb 18, 2009 5:03AM PST

1. What is my problem?
Items on startup screen (before I enter my password) are very large and difficult to move to the center of the window. When I restart the window opens normally.

Mouse will sometimes freeze

Will Windows Xp CD Repair fix these problems?

2. How do I get Windows CD Repair to open?
Here is what I have done so far(with no success).
Shut down printer, turned off Windows XP firewall and withdrew cord from modem, turned off Windows XP, inserted Windows XP cd, and restarted my computer. BUT during startup I do not see a message to hit a key.

I have run sfc /scannow and Check Disk with no success.

Anything to fix these problems or show me how to get Windows XP CD Repair to open would be much appreciated. I hope I do not have to complete reinstall XP Pro. Thank you, Blake

Can you explain this more?

I'm a little confused right at the beginning.

You said that items on the Startup screen, before you enter your password, are very large and difficult to move to the center of the screen.

Which Startup screen do you mean? The normal Windows Welcome screen where you log on, and enter a password if you have one, does not have icons that you can move around.

Do you mean the blue Welcome Screen where you have to select which user to log into? On that screen, when you select a user by clicking the icon with the mouse, then that icon moves to the center of the screen.

You said when you restart, the window opens normally. What window?

I will try to clarify. Wile I do not know the difference between "normal Windows screen" and "blue welcome screen", in my case I will call it the "Welcome screen". This means the first window where I select the sole icon (since I am the only user of this computer) and enter my password.

From time to time all of this area appears in large type and half hidden to the right of the screen. If I move my mouse around I can get the area to move to the left, but still partially hidden.

I hope this is clear and I should restate that if I shut down the computer and restart it the Welcome" screen shows up normally.

Actually I've seen something similar.

It was a home built with an overtaxed power supply. The best we could guess was the video card GPU was crashing in some odd way. As a test we pulled out the second hard disk, second DVDRW and that was just enough more power for it to boot.
