Windows XP Pro and Lexmark X83 printer - NEED HELP :)

Mar 15, 2004 11:51PM PST

I have been running XP Pro on my system with my LexMark x83 printer for the last year but last week, it all came to a screaching halt!

My system is no longer recognizing my printer Sad
I have spent hours/days on the Lexmark and XP websites, gone through troubleshooting, downladed clean.exe files, uninstalled and re-installed the printer, drivers, ports, etc.

If anyone can help me out with this I would GREATLY appreciate it Happy

1. Does the printer do a self-test and print a page?
If not, then nothing on the PC will matter.

2. Try the printer on another machine. Sometimes they fail and you have to try this.

3. Try another cable.

4. If USB (most common) review http://www.usbman.com about motherboard drivers. Get latest.

I am running XP home with Lexmark X83.I encountered the same problem suddenly last week. I did a system restore and it resolved the issue. I wish I knew what caused the problem in the first place but all is well now.
