General discussion

Windows XP is slow on a fast machine.

I build up the machine two years ago, I put on windows xp and it was fast.

384MB ram
2.4GB processor
Video Card
80GB hard drive

it ran beautifully.

I upgrade it with time to a

700 or so MB of ram
128MB video card.

now as time pass the machine gets slower everyday, the hard drive is like 65% full at the moment. For start up all I have is Norton 2005, I have run many spyware softwares to clean things up and they all say, the computer is clean. I ran defragmentation and disk clean up also.

I notice the slow going after I install softwares and games and music, what I don't understand is how it can get slow if the programs are not running and still, 700 rams is plenty, here at work I have 512MB and the computer flights.

any advices

thanks
