I'd try the traditional method of using an external CD/DVD ROM and a legal copy of XP for the best chance for success.
I followed this person's tutorial on how to install Windows XP on my Acer Aspire One D150: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Vt_8p0VllY
First, I had to make a small change to the SATA Mode from ACHI to IDE because if I didn't change it, it would crash with 0x0000007B BSOD.
But after installing the Text part of Windows XP, i was moving to the GUI part and it said:
Windows could not start because of a hardware configuration error.
I am confused of what to do with it.
I tried, fixboot, chkdsk /r, i even tried installing it again, but to no avail.
Oh and one more thing. I had Windows 7 Ultimate at first in one partition. I installed Windows XP on the other partition, but it didn't work. In the end i couldn't even access my Windows 7 now. I need it for my school project.....*I really need it.*
P.S My Acer Aspire D150 specs:
Intel Atom N270 1.6Ghz
Intel GMA 945 chipset
140GB HDD with 2 SATA Modes: ACHI and IDE.
