Windows XP Error (?)

Hello All,

I am getting the following STOP error whenever I open multiple files at once. Please note that it is not program specific as it happens for Acrobat, MS Word, MS Excel etc...

STOP error: "called by app"

If I click "OK" to the error the individual files will open within the respective application.

Has anyone seen this error before and if so do you know of a resolution?

I am running Windows XP Professional with SP3.

From what I can tell.

It's malware, spyware related. There is one other cause which is worth noting. A person showed up with that and the OS was illegal, hacked in some very bizarre way. We had to send them on their way.

As to malware try the usuals such as found by google called MALWAREBYTES and SUPERANTISPYWARE.

I'll run a malware/adware scan and get back to you.
