There's a lot of articles about this so I won't go into any great detail. Media Edition was indeed based on XP Pro and because of gaffes/glitches or nonchalance the updates would change the OS identification on the boot screen and other places.
This should never cause an issue but owners will ask this question. There is no fix planned.

My Dell came with Media Edition installed and over time it became Home Edition, On it's own, with out any input from me. That was ok and it worked, with few exceptions, over the years. Now, it has, without my permission, turned into
Windows Professional Edition. I realty don't like it. It's awkward to start up (added menu etc.), a lot of 16 bit games don't work, can't run a 'restore' from any point, and other esthetic differences.
What goes? Has any else experienced this HAL like computer behavior? Can I get back to my Media Edition?
