I am including more info rather than less to help your problem solving. XP Home Edition won't boot up. I got "STOP: C0000218 Registry File Failure The registry cannot load the hive file" Dell did not provide OS restore disk and I was unaware I had to create one on my own. Attached corrupt drive to second computer that is running Windows XP Media Center Edition to acquire data files on crashed drive. I've been able to retrieve and save almost all the files, except for those in the Administrator folder in the Documents & Settings folder that was on the Home Edition version. I keep getting "access denied". Home edition had five user accounts for the family, with mine being the admin. No password needed to sign on my user. No problems copying data from the non-admin family folders. I tried right-clicking on the folder, selecting Properties, and the only tabs that show up are called General, Sharing and Customize. There is no "security" tab like some of the forums have stated there should be. On the General tab, there is a green square in the read-only attribute. Under the sharing tab, "make this folder private" is unchecked and grayed-out so I am unable to check it. Any advice on what i can do as most of my important data files are in this folder. Much appreciation!
